What is a stock split?

A stock split is the division of existing shares into smaller shares to make the price per share more affordable. This allows investors to buy and sell share more easily. However, the market value of the shares (Market Capitalisation) remains unchanged.

NVIDIA Stock Split in 2021 and 2024

On July 20, 2021, NVIDIA carried out a 4-for-1 stock split. This reduced the price of each share to one-fourth of its original value, meaning the price per share was divided by 4. As a result, if you held 1 share before the stock split, you would own 4 shares after the split.

Then, on June 10, 2024, NVIDIA implemented another 10-for-1 stock split, meaning that if you owned 1 share before the second stock split, you would receive 10 shares afterward. Both stock splits aim to make the shares more affordable and boost trading activity in the market, thereby improving liquidity and market efficiency.

Investing in NVIDIA from 2021 to 2025

From July 2021 to September 2025, NVIDIA’s stock price increased by approximately 200% to 300% after its stock split. This growth was not solely due to the stock split but also driven by strong investor interest in AI, rising demand for GPU and Data Center and investments from major companies. These factors contributed to better-than-expected financial results, which in turn boosted investor confidence.
