Unilever Cambodia is celebrating its 22nd year in the Kingdom, highlighting more than two decades of delivering leading global brands and meaningful social impact to Cambodian families.
To mark the anniversary, a special event was hosted at the Shangri-La Phnom Penh. The exclusive celebrations brought together many distinguished guests, including H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce; H.E. Dominic Williams, British Ambassador to Cambodia; representatives from business chambers, banking partners, distributors, marketing agencies, media and Unilever staff.
Established in the UK in 1929, Unilever has grown into one of the world’s largest consumer-goods companies, with operations in over 190 countries and a portfolio of more than 400 brands used by billions. Since its formal registration with the Ministry of Commerce in 2003, Unilever Cambodia has become a familiar presence in households nationwide through over 20 well-known products such as Dove, Sunsilk, Clear, Viso Pises, Sunlight, Knorr and Wall’s.
“Unilever Cambodia’s journey is a testament to the power of global standards and local commitment. For 22 years, we have worked hand-in-hand with Cambodian communities, empowering people and brightening everyday life. As part of Unilever’s global family headquartered in London, we remain dedicated to making a positive impact — today and for generations to come,” noted Sothou Ly, Head of Country for Unilever Cambodia and Laos.
A Journey Focused on Impact and Inclusion
Unilever Cambodia’s vision extends beyond commercial success. With 99% of its team made up of Cambodians, the company has created more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs, nearly half of which are held by women. Projects like the Apsara Programme support over 1,500 women to earn income near their homes, while the Unilever Future Leaders Programme helps develop the country’s next generation of leaders.
The company has marked many incredible milestones in its time in the Kingdom.
• 2013: Unilever Cambodia commemorated its 10-year anniversary with the opening of an open-style office near Preah Monivong Boulevard.
• 2015: The company joined the “Best Trader Company Group” under the General Department of Customs and Excise—a recognition it continues to hold.
• 2016: The Apsara Programme was launched, providing women with job opportunities close to home; it now benefits 1,500 women and has been expanded to Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines.
• 2017–present: Unilever Cambodia has earned the Best Brand Employer Award seven times for its efforts in developing local talent, cultivating young leaders, building an inclusive workplace and supporting staff wellbeing.
• 2020: The company appointed its first Cambodian national General Manager — a major milestone in promoting local leadership.
• 2021 & 2022: Unilever Cambodia ranked among the country’s top tax contributors, placing 14th and 17th respectively.
• 2023: The company celebrated its 20th anniversary and opened a modern, collaborative office space designed for innovation.
• Today: Unilever Cambodia partners with more than 30,000 trades nationwide, delivering world-class products to consumers across the country.
The company has also provided support to schools, pagodas, NGOs, and communities — including contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic and aid to families displaced by the recent border conflict.
“It was truly inspiring to see how Unilever is empowering communities—creating opportunities and making a real difference in people’s lives. I’m proud to see a British company like Unilever not only thriving in Cambodia but also driving inclusive growth and supporting women in business,” said H.E. Dominic Williams, British Ambassador to Cambodia.
“Congratulations to Unilever Cambodia on your 22nd anniversary! Thank you for your commitment to improving lives and for being a shining example of UK business making an impact globally and locally,” he continued.

She highly appreciated the company’s successful business growth in Cambodia over the past 22 years. This achievement has not only actively contributed to stimulating the local market by supplying high-quality, affordable, and diverse food, household and daily consumer products that meet the needs of Cambodian citizens, but the company has also created more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people of Cambodia.
